Language Development and Age
Julia Herschensohn
Descriptions of this book (including the description on the back cover) make it sound like this book concerns itself primarily with second language acquisition among adults, and there are two chapters devoted to SLA (called "L2A" in this book,) but overall Herschensohn is far more preoccupied with the critical period hypothesis and biological and psychological processes involved in language acquisition at a young age. That doesn't mean this book isn't useful, of course, but if you are looking for something dealing specifically with the issue of older minds attempting to master new languages you will probably want to look elsewhere.
